We regret to inform you that there has been a breach in our security. We're taking ALL measures to insure that this problem doesn't happen again. As of this point in time, all accounts have been compromised. This complication means that the hackers MAY be able to brute-force your passwords, though they are Salted. The so-called ‘hackers’, believed to be affiliated with ProjectRS06, accessed the SMF database (only includes the forum profiles) through an SQL injection found in the HighScores page. Rest assured, this hack has been fixed but the HighScores have been temporarily removed pending further investigation so that this will and cannot happen again.
These hackers have also been the cause of the ongoing DDoS attacks, resulting in the prolonged downturn of both the website and server because it was deemed ‘funny’. They also thought it would be humorous to blackmail the RuneRebels development team for $500 or leak the stolen information, though this attempt failed. These attacks against us have caused a number of problems on the MoparScape forums, causing unnecessary drama. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences caused by these hackers and the downturn of our beloved game are we are currently adding security modifications to ensure that the site will not get hacked or DDoS’d offline again.
