James, just so you know, you're allowed to catch shinies when you do special runs like XPERT, Christianity, and Nuzlocke. It's something that's so rare that you just have to do it. Don't necessarily have to use it, but just catch it. Also, you're allowed get more Magikarps if you want and train them in to more Gyarados. Are there any more Pokemon that are given out in the game? Lapras, right? What else? One of the fossils?
