Given its importance to newly arriving players from PRS06, this topic has been moved to News & Announcements.

Hmm, intriguing. Hope this is the real Axel and we can trust these words. Thanks for the notice.
It is. This is the account he made when he was "supposed" to be leaving with me.

The panic attack and swift removal of me just to ensure that ko9 would keep getting his donation money
I knew it would be monetized from the get-go

He flipped the entire thing around on you, even on the mopar forums.

I hope all these claims of stability are true. Because currently, I can't even log in.
These are hits on the VPS directly, not the actual game server crashing

Tom and Dwarf both resigned to help out here, they're tired of Project06's management apparently (which is why sinisoul resigned yesterday). Tom is a good friend of both me and Ryan and Dwarf is a good friend of Toms.

They offered, we did not ask them to come.

News & Announcements / Currently down UPDATE 2
« on: February 08, 2013, 01:24:54 pm »
Working on it, Ryan is on his way home.

Hang tight, most likely a vps issue.

All the worlds are saying could not complete login, even the dev world. So it could be the login server and the site may just be slow because of the traffic we have on it right now (it's only slow because of the strict security settings we needed to put on the vps to stop the ddos attacks). But Ryan's on his way back to his dorm right now and will be checking to see the problem shortly.

The server itself was not responsible for this. We supported 2000 players with no lag on a $10 vps during a stress test. The problem is the login server seeing the incoming traffic as an attack so its constricting the flow of information.

UPDATE

Back up, but remember that everyone swarming to login will make the server think its being attacked. Ryan will have this fixed soon.

UPDATE

Back down. Currently in a meeting with Ryan getting it resolved with the other developers.

Update: World 2 is online, but world 1 is still offline until we can reboot it. Sorry for any inconvenience.

It wasn't a DDOS, think it was a vps issue

Suggestions, Compliments, And Questions / Re: How are we any different?

@DesertRain Thanks for posting, are you referring to IVP (I believe it's called IVP). The people who own a little more than 50% of Jagex right now? And yes, I'm glad we don't have any of those annoying advertisements, but I do believe that we need to vote more on RuneLocus and Mopar. Word of mouth would be great, don't get me wrong, however, I don't know if I would see much growth like that. Not that we need thousands upon thousands of players. But what we do need is a little amount of donators. Not saying this should be for-profit, but we need to keep VPS going and everything.

@Karl Thanks to you for posting as well. Your post was also very informational, and I thank you for that. I thought the RS website might have something to do with their demise. I'm glad we fall into all of these categories of surviving if Jagex does decide to look at us.
On the home page we also have a link to "our runescape server is not associated with Jagex Ltd. or Runescape" terms of service which lists why we can not be taken down loool
here ill list the reasons why if they EVER tried to take us down, they would fail horribly.

p.s the only way we could be taken down, is if the owners of the server release how much they were making "which is what runescape 2006scape did and is the reason they were taken down, or if we were to release a aspect to where you had to pay for certain aspects of the game. Thanks! We are here to stay.
Terms of Service have never been legally binding.

Posting them on old nostalgic music pages or gameplay pages seems fine, as long as we don't flood the comments. I see it all the time.
