I came on earlier and decided to make a guide on some NPC training spots. Then I thought to myself why create a huge page full of information when I could create a wiki-like website. So that's what I began to do.

Through this website we as a community can record everything on the server, from NPCs to items and so on.

Write access will be given to those who can adhere to some form of grammar and correct spelling.

RuneRebels Wiki (Unofficial)

Also I am no website designer, if you wish to see something changed say so!

To do:

  • Allow user accounts.
  • Create a BB Code-like syntax to make editing easier. - Enabled for page editting for now
  • Add a two-way syntax parser.
  • Make calculating drop rates easier.
  • Make calculating drop rates even easier.
  • Allow account management.
  • Allowing the creation of new pages.
  • Allow the submission of user created tools. (for now this will be done manually, you will receive credit for your work, make sure the language you use is web-based - Java applets will not be allowed)
  • Add cookies to allow users to stay logged in.
  • Fix up the tables.
  • Polish up the design some more.
  • More design polishes.
  • By popular demand, use of different fonts.
  • Making adding images to pages easier.
  • Making all the item images transparent.
  • Member list.
  • Enabling/disabling certain links in the navigation bar.

Another update, check out the polished design :)

Permissions:

  • You can edit pages.
  • You can create new pages.
  • You can manage accounts (permissions)

Current list of permissions:

  • Pure2 - 5
  • Ruby - 4

Some available syntax:
Drop Calculations - Type the following before you begin calculating drops [init]TOTAL_KILLS[/init]

Then for each drop just type [calc]AMOUNT_OF_DROPS[/calc] (You'll need to do this for every value, even if you don't change all of them)

Item Images - Type the following everywhere you want an item image [item-image]ITEM_ID[/item-image]

Skill Images - Type the following [skill-image]SKILL_NAME[/skill-image] - Skill Names (case sensitive): attack, agility, construction, cooking, crafting, defence, farming, firemaking, fishing, fletching, herblore, hitpoints, hunter, magic, mining, overall, prayer, ranged, runecraft, slayer, smithing, strength, summoning, thieving & woodcutting.

Nice, a wiki for our server would be awesome... but the design needs improvement. Pictures of the items would be a good start.

I plan on taking images of all of the in-game items, NPCs etc. I'll probably dump the cache if possible for it. That will all come after the initial design.

I will give you my take on it (constructive criticism):

-There are only like 5 NPCs (you don't even have all the information for them) so there is a ton to be done.
-The font on the banner looks horrid.
-Basic 'times new roman' font looks pretty boring.
-The theme is pretty unattractive.

However, I will say that it is a good idea and it's a good thing to start. I understand it's a work in progress but don't forget how much "STUFF" there was and how much information is going to need to be added to wiki.

Hello, thanks for your suggestions and I will address them all now.

  • I think that it's impossible for me to run around and documentate everything on the server in four days; remember it's a wiki, it's meant to have a range of authors, not just one. Ryan is contemplating giving me the drop tables, item stats etc. If that happens I will write a program to convert all of the drops, item stats etc. into web pages. Until then you'll have to bare with me OR you can contribute!
  • You can either: suggest one, design one or simply disregard it's existance. Hey, you can always use your own CSS.
  • Give me a suggestion.
  • It's a wiki not a fashion contest, as per usual, suggest changes or use your own CSS.

Side note: Images of items, NPCs etc. will be added once I find silabsoft, she knows a lot about clients and can probably help me out.

Do you have something else to say apart from linking to another wiki? Tell me how you've dumped all of the cache's images for use! Tell me have you have full control over content on your wiki. Tell me how you have automated drop calculations.

Once Ryan gives me some data, the awesomeness will proceed! Thank you.

Stuart

I never said that wiki had anything, however thats where the wiki should be instead of a thread on the forums. Its more organized and the wiki already exists.

Jim

A wiki would be sweet it would help em with things that ive forgotten.
