Fixed bugs / Re: blue dragon safespot melee glitch

Fixed!

My second suggestion is less suggestion and more putting ideas out on the table;

We need to give people who play private servers incentive to stay and play despite the vast difference in levels that are apparent in our community and economy. It is deterring for new players to join a server where everyone is very high leveled, but I don't think a server wipe would be the answer.

RuneRebels used to have two dedicated worlds and I feel this can be used to our advantage.

Again, after the major updates are settled as Ryan stated previously, perhaps a sort of "minigame" world could be created aside from the main world we have now. We could have a rotating schedule of game types on World 2 where every two weeks (or month) we could do events such as; iron man challenge, Spawn-Clan vs. Clan Pking, Solo Pking Tournaments, Staff vs. Players, or any other interesting game type spin-offs you can think of.

Each time a new game-type is introduced, all players are reset or have levels set according to the new game-type.

Each game-type could host a highscores page where players can compete to be in the top positions.
The recurring schedule gives players who missed a 'season' another chance to be a part of the competition they like.

I feel that the players who may be deterred by the main game will find such a world to their liking and those who may've grown bored with the main game could have another RuneRebel's product to fall back on, and yes, I am aware of WorldScape.

Again, the idea is a bit far-fetched as it would be an entire project in itself, but the concept is interesting and somewhat do-able. Just thought I'd give it a share. Not as much of a suggestion but more just shooting shit out into space.

What do you guys think?

I think you hit the nail on the head here Slangin. Since RR has been around for a long time (4+ years) the level differences are huge versus when everyone originally started out at lvl 3 back in f2p. Obviously there's a number of things that we can do like community events, as you know we have done quite a few in the past. While the amount of players has certainly gone up over the last few months, most of the players back are long veterans like us who have been around for 3-4 years off and on.

I think the answer to our player base problem is more simple then we think though. I feel like with a number of suggestions that you have mentioned, new content updates, a new website layout and design more veterans will not only be encouraged to come back but new players might be a bit more inclined to stick around as well. I also think you have a good point about doing community events, obviously once our player base goes up a bit more I think this will be a very good idea going forwards.

We'd like to start doing Community Events again in the near future, part of the reason we brought Austin back in as our Community Manager :).  All the suggestions that we get are being taken into consideration. We're currently trying to design a new website layout that is less... I don't know... full of random links that are of no importance whatsoever haha. The landing page, imo, is very ugly. That'll all change soon though :). Also, I've discussed it with Ryan and we'd like to get it set to where the Veteran badge is given out automatically after playing for x amount of time... and more uses of the community member badge for players who've shown great contributions to the community. For now, I think the only extra world we're trying to work too is a F2P only world.

Does the grave digging rule apply to long term goals and achievement threads?

just use common sense.

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification Petter

The gravedigging thing is more like, say someone posted two years ago they were buying flax, and you've got some flax just chillin'. Chances are after two years that foo picked his own flax

News & Announcements / We've updated the Rules!

Hello everyone!

To try and make it more user friendly around here and loosen the reigns, we've combined the forum rules and in-game rules into one topic, and greatly GREATLY reduced them. We went from over 20 rules combined to four combined. Please check them out below!

Rules & Information / Rules *Updated*
« on: January 07, 2017, 08:07:39 pm »
We got to looking at the rules, and a lot of them are very outdated. We're not trying to rule with an iron fist, we just want everyone to enjoy their time here. These rules apply to both the forums and in-game.

Rule #1 - Spamming -
Please do not make any type of spam posts on the forums such as topics about the server status, or multiple topics about the same thing. in addition, please don't gravedig topics that are more than one month old. Please refrain from spamming the in-game chat window as well.

Rule #2 - Botting, Scamming, Hacking, and Bug abuse -
In regards to botting, hacking, and abusing bugs; just don't do it. If you find a bug in-game, report it in the proper forum, if the account is not yours, don't try and get it, and if you feel like you have to bot to reach a certain stat level you're playing the wrong type of game. Account sharing is not encouraged, but is allowed. Don't scam other players, and if something's too good to be true it probably is so don't fall for it. Items and accounts will NOT be returned if lost.

Rule #3 - Advertising -
We don't advertise on any other RSPS server, and we don't want you advertising on ours. We're not a top site or a hub.

Rule #4 - Encouraging Rule Breaking -
Don't encourage anyone else to break any of the aforementioned rules. Doing so will net you the same punishment as them.

Fixed bugs / Re: More Unfair Recognition

It's a bug more than likely caused by combining my two accounts, anyone flagged as staff or ex staff should not show up anymore, but where that is essentially a blank account now, it's not flagged.  Ryan has it on his list.

It's ok, im pretty sad about that but I understand your decision, all of us have personal important things to do but i bet NO ONE will forget those beautiful times spent on both RuneScape and RuneRebels, those memories..  ;)
Actually I still have hope in this outstanding project, it takes times for changes and I think there's someone out there that could handle it all, someone like us, with a little bit more free time on his hands and a pure vision of a great RS remake, completely oldschool and "yoknowhatimsayinduude" im still waiting for that person :)

Cheers and good luck for you and the whole admin team in your real life, visit us anytime cos we will still wait..
Problem is, said person would have to gain Ryan's trust to the point where said person would get access to the server files. Something Kevin and James never physically accomplished, though they were told they would get access to it.

And to do that, you'd have to get him to respond to your messages (looking at around 6-8 months per message). It's not possible. It's time for us all to accept that this is a dead project, and AllGoFree is a dead company.

News & Announcements / My Resignation
« on: March 19, 2016, 08:42:33 pm »
Hey guys,

I hate to drop it off like this, and it's going to be quite long, but I'm going to be as blunt and straightforward as possible. When Kevin got out, I saw my opportunity to speak my mind and do so as well. This will be my resignation.

For starters, lets take a look at the good stuff. I started playing AGF's first server (Worldscape) Back in late 2006 early 2007. Those early days were some of the best times of my gaming life. After playing for a couple weeks, I got to know Ryan and the way way wayyyy former owner, Gizmo. We started talking about the server, ways it could improve, etc. and I eventually received a player moderator spot. After about two weeks of being a player moderator, I became an administrator. After Gizmo did some pretty shitty stuff, Ryan brought Jeremy on as his new co owner, and I was given the title 'head of staff.' Life happened, and at the time I was falling behind in some of my college work and working two jobs, so I decided to give up PC gaming altogether and left. Flashforward to oh... I believe it was 2010 or 2011, and I decided to see if Worldscape was still around. It was, and I got reacquainted with Ryan, and got to know Kevin. I was given my administrator privileges and before long, they both asked me to step up and become a part owner. Around this time, RR was started. I was slow to jump on board, focusing the majority of my attention on a dead game from my childhood, but eventually came around.

WorldScape (and later RuneRebels) has become a huge part of my young and adult life, and for that I couldn't thank everyone enough. I've had a lot, and I mean A LOT, of fun getting to know most of you, and made some great friends along the way.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm going to get to the bad. This isn't attempting to throw shade towards anyone, this is just me being as open and honest as possible, like I've always tried to be.

First, communication itself between Ryan, Kevin, and Myself has become almost non existent. To the point where sometimes, we don't speak for 1-3 MONTHS at a time. I know this goes three ways, but it's still unacceptable, unprofessional, and just downright won't work for an ownership group.

Second, there have been way too many empty promises made by all of us. I think deep down, we all genuinely wanted to bring RR and WS back. Real life has gotten in the way wayyy too many times, and in my opinion if we can't make time for this, there's no point leading you guys on any farther. The database (that was supposed to be brought back over 3 months ago) was never brought back online. There has been no further development to the API system that was supposed to be introduced over 3 months ago. There has been 0 progress made internally to the server in almost two years. Ryan is working on multiple start up projects and has no time whatsoever for the RSPS's. Kevin is now working on ServerAds, and I'm busy being a grown up. It's just not feasible.

Third, we've been way too dishonest with the majority of you guys, and chased off the majority of our playerbase because of it. The reputation that RR and AGF has right now is pretty awful, and for that I apologize.

Again, I want to sincerely thank everyone for the fun I've had the past 8 or so years. It's been really enjoyable (minus the last year or so), and I'll still be around every now and then. And to Ryan specifically, if you plan on bringing the RSPS's back again, I do wish you the best of luck.

Your alcoholic buddy,

-James
