IRC Brah :)
Eh nobody is in the IRC though

You could tell more people to go on IRC then. IRC is, and will always be, superior to any implementation of a chat box.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm on Debian Squeeze right now and I fixed the issue by using

sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun

which uses Sun's JRE instead of OpenJDK's JRE. I figure the same method could be used to fix my issue on Mint. Thanks again!

Stack traces (if any) do help.

Be a superior IRC user and use a better client.

What! :D Linux is better, and definitely safer then Windows.  I just wish I'd force myself through the learning curve. :)
linux may be safer, but it is def. not better gaming wise :P

Linux is cake if you get a decent version, if you get something like Fedora, good friggen luck.

In most distributions (and especially Arch) you can practically use common sense (you don't even need to know shell or the command line; you just have to not be afraid of using it) and a search engine to get your way through most of every technical issue you come across. I don't see how Fedora is bad (well yeah, GNOME 3 sucks) or difficult to use (and difficulty is relative anyway). And decency != easiness.

I've never heard of that one.  Just debates (opinions) on which ones are the best.

Here's a list of popular ones, although "the best" is far too subjective.

Bump. There needs to be a solution other than to use Sun's JRE. If someone can come and attach the required JPEG libraries that would be great.

I wrote a small snippet to do a little frequency analysis of the passwords and it was pretty amusing (lol123, nigger, etc). Needless to say, my password was also pretty bad. Anyways: http://pastebin.com/iriN9f5F

Thanks for the update, hopefully some of this drama will end soon.

Agreed.

Ditto to that as well.

P.S: If you have Java enabled on your browser (especially if it runs applets without your consent, and on any browser) it's just as large (if not even larger) of a security risk as using IE.

IE (IE9 and newer) is fine. Chrome (Chromium) and Firefox are better open source alternatives though. At least in the browser market open source software does dominate.  :)
