Now maybe this niche of the market is tapped and people just don't feel like logging in to play, but a decent start to increasing the player base would be if everyone who posts in these forums about the lack of players actually logged in the game.  I was on last night and there were 6 or 7 people - if small numbers of forum lurkers were to log in and play sporadically - even a half hour, maybe it would send a decent impression to newer players and the admins if at times there were 20-30+ people on.  It could all be for shit, but just a thought.

Christ, this really is WS all over again. People used to say literally the EXACT same thing about it.

Never played WS, but I suppose that is a scary coincidence...

I wouldn't say it's a coincidence if it's from the same people...

Gonna have to quote myself because this is getting ridiculous.

Even if we have advertisements people will end up leaving again because lack of development & lack of quests and such. I feel it's best to advertise whenever Ryans back, in my opinion

Problem is no-one really knows when Ryan will be able to focus his attention more towards this project because of the busy schedule he has.

If we keep on waiting, for god knows how long, there's a possibility that the server will burn up an die before we have a chance to advertise.

I mean, this metaphor is pretty bad but still;

Windows 7 was very imperfect when it was first released, but that didn't stop Microsoft from advertising it regardless of whether or not they were pumping out updates, publicity is publicity.

We need to stop thinking about perfecting the server, and start thinking about publicising the server. Otherwise, we'll have a near completed server with 10 players online rather than a decent server with 100 players online.

This game will never get a 100+ players on again. Prove me wrong and I'll happily eat my words.

Yea I don't see 100+ players ever happening again either unless something major occurs. The reason we had that many people was projectrs06 getting shut down. When Jagex's 2007 old school server came out a lot of those people left.

I think when we get updates and advertisement we would get around 50 people, in my eyes that's pretty good. There will be always players looking for a free and decent rs06 server.

That's what I meant by something major, we would need an all around effort to get a strong playerbase back on here. We would need a stronger and more aggressive advertising campaign along with a more active staff and development team that frequently puts out major content updates. We would need our current players to continue voting and advertising runerebels.  Unless major content comes in many of our registered members will continue to "refuse to play", as long as the server is not supported.

I'm not being funny, but it's all good saying this, but they've already said that they're not advertising until there's more content, which could be 3 years from now at this rate.

I don't even play this game anymore, I just check the forums daily..
