The links in green are links you guys can go to vote at, and the links in blue are threads we have posted.
Voting rewards are being worked on as we speak. But until then if you guys can vote RuneRebels up, that would be great.

Voted on all, what will the rewards be like? just curious. (Will they actually encourage new players to vote..that's what I'm worried about...)

Already voted. Vote rewards need to be simple, like, 500-1000 coins per vote.

Then no new person would vote, and why economy base it? I'd do lamps or something.

We talked about having different things, possibly name changes, skill locking, stuff like that. Nothing major that will effect the economy or give anyone a huge advantage in game.

Sure, sounds great, but let's be honest  not a single new person would vote for this....It doesn't make sense. You guys need to stop planning the rewards around veterans, because we'd vote for nothing as long as we were reminded.

Honestly the only thing I can think of that won't break the economy nor cause that much of an issue are lamps. Or you could have a point shop, and give points for voting, then have multiple rewards which can be bought in a point shop. I just don't see a new player voting for skill locks and name changes....especially when you get done locking skills and changing names...there would be no point for a new player. Look, I know you don't want to provide a unfair advantage. But in order to get votes, you need to provide an advantage to the game. (I realize some people are nice and donate/vote without asking.) But you don't have enough "Veterans" voting per day to get popular, you need the players voting too.

Lamps looks like a good idea. No economy breaks and is a good reward.

I'd like voting rewards to be forum-based like a color to your name and such

We need some in-game swag like Banners or Tricorne hats or stuff like that!
Title: Re: List of Websites for Voting
Post by: Tennessee on January 26, 2014, 10:50:12 am
Please don't add anything in game that wasn't there in 06 like "banners" or "hats". I think  a mix of forum perks like color changes for names or a badge saying how many times you've voted if that's possible. Maybe some xp lamps in game and have different tiers of lamps like after 2 times of voting on all sites you get the lowest xp lamp after 4 or 5 times of voting you get to a higher xp lamp and maybe a third tier lamp for 10 times of voting. But you can only "cash in" a lamp one at a time so they could either choose to keep getting the tier 1 lamps and cash in every time after 2 times of voting or save up all 10 times and cash in on the biggest xp lamp. (don't know if I'm explaining that right lol) Gold coins is another way to do it. It may not make tons of people vote but it's still an option for those who want it.

BTW, voted on all. Can't wait to see RR in the number one spot!

Prayer, the idea is noble, but new players are not like you and me. We NEED the new players to vote, you can't just give them forum colors...it will never work. I like tennessee's idea but I don't really understand it completely. I honestly feel like the only logical choice is XP lamps. I don't see new players voting for forum-based rewards............You guys need to think like a new player. Look, I've dealt with advertising and voting many times before on multiple types of private servers. You have to imagine you're a new player who just joined, who has no connection to the server, what's going to encourage me to vote? Being reminded (Auto-messaging in game.) and a reward that I can actually use. Sadly, forum ranks and name changes and skill locks mean almost nothing to a new player.
Title: Re: List of Websites for Voting
Post by: Tennessee on January 26, 2014, 12:29:51 pm
only way I can try to explain it is

vote 2 times - eligible for an xp lamp worth 2.5k

vote 4 times - eligible for 2 xp lamps worth 2.5k

vote 10 times eligible for 2 xp lamps worth 5k

Not necessarily those numbers but something along those lines

Prayer although current players may not like it, the only way to truely get votes is to provide some sort of in-game benefit, it sucks but it's true.

Well not quite. Most remakes\old school servers I've played don't give out in-game bonuses yet they've managed to create a fairly large playerbase.

Look at 2006Scape & PRS06 for example. They both sucked on the actual game, but their advertising was extraordinary; let alone none came looking for in-game bonuses, just a remake to play.

The only ones that got a huge playerbase all got the playerbase from the one that started it all which is 2006redone. One server did manage to get a huge playerbase, but all the ones after that just posted on each others website after their death saying "join us! We won't die!"

If we must reward players for voting, at least have it be something cosmetic, such as what is seen in RS3, mainly custom animation for emotes or other possible animation tweaks.  As much as voting isn't monetary exchange, doing service for in-game reward is still one virtual asset to another. Bring back ::rickroll

I'm sorry but I don't agree with there being rewards in-game for voting.. The whole fact of the matter is, this is a 2006 remake server, not SoulSplit or BattleScape, in games like that rewards are acceptable for voting because they aren't playing to replicate the experience of RuneScape at a specific era, this however is different, if we start giving out XP lamps for voting doesn't that just defeat the realism of training and grinding out skills. Some of you have said that XP lamps aren't beneficial but really they are, thus i'm against any form of obtainable item from voting, even GP, the whole point of voting is if the server is good, people vote, there's no point bribing people gold to vote, because the people like us who love the game enough will vote regardless of any reward. So yeah, I agree with Prayer, possibly there could be different forum colours or something, maybe even on the forums over <--------- there it shows my name and stuff, it could say like "Voted: 57 Times" for instance, or something along those lines.

Again, any cosmetic items is rather pointless and removing the genuine sense of this being a remake, i'll admit that yes, we need people to vote, but giving them items doing so in my opinion isn't the best option to go about things.

You obviously have never used a voting website before. New members will NEVER vote unless given a reason to. Hence the reward.

If you guys didn't already add in the Christmas scarves, I would have said make those the rewards for voting, like every 10 votes you move up one. Vanity items should be fine. Exp boosts, I'm less fine with but really it's not like there are hiscores or a big competitive scene.

New members should vote because they enjoy the server, not because they're being bribed.. I'm well aware of voting reward systems but this isn't a server that should use that method of generating votes.

I don't like this idea. I feel as though this server would stay great if the exp rate were the same, else people would hoard items like nats, herbs, and resources for a 2x event.

I agree with Prayer. We already have x2 exp as it is, i didn't mind the event due to the downtime but don't make it a habit :o

Well as I see it as the new player, I think the personally the XP lamp idea is great, because it would boost my levels just by a bit so I would have some kinda of advantage as a new player in the community, but anywho I voted anyways.

The links in green are links you guys can go to vote at, and the links in blue are threads we have posted.
Voting rewards are being worked on as we speak. But until then if you guys can vote RuneRebels up, that would be great.

James instead of shit ton of sites why not only

runelocus, moparscape website to vote, alot of people probally get put off to vote when they see so many links, that way on those 2 sites we will have higher votes.
Also having like a small reward would probally make people vote more.

I usually tend to vote for all, but the amount of links actually kinda scares me away from this thread.
Maybe only having like the main 3 ones on here would be smart- it makes it more appealing to actually vote for all of them.

http://www.ultimateprivateservers.com/runescape/index.php?a=in&u=Runrebels (http://www.ultimateprivateservers.com/runescape/index.php?a=in&u=Runrebels) gives me a 404 error as if the RR voting position disappeared.

https://www.rspscoding.org/toplist/vote.php?id=1171 (https://www.rspscoding.org/toplist/vote.php?id=1171) shoots out a "webpage not available."

http://runetoplist.com/Runerebels+2006+remake/vote/ (http://runetoplist.com/Runerebels+2006+remake/vote/) gives me an error as if I "broke something" in the website programming.

This is just a note of what regular times I vote and these three links aren't usable.

Ultimate private servers vote page needs to be updated 401 error File not found.
Ultimate Private Servers has undergone a makeover. If you are attempting to vote for your favorite website there is a good chance that it is not in the new toplist. Please alerter the webmaster to rejoin and update the voting link.

Rspscoding.     404
Page not found.

We went into the page's room and found a streak of blood.
We have alerted the police, but they are not optimistic.

Go back

rune-server.org, ultimateprivateservers, mmorpgtoplist, runetroplist, top50servers, top-revernge, tspsroding.org, runelocus, and top20mmo voting sites don't go to what they're supposed to be.
