Title: Design an Event and Client Background contest!
Post by: James on December 06, 2014, 04:37:37 pm
Hello everyone,

As we know, the holiday season is quickly approaching. We would like to see some ideas for our Christmas event this year.

Unfortunately, it's really hard for us to completely redo events that took place in RuneScape, because there doesn't exist a lot of dialogue from back then. And, though this is a remake, we do like to kind of put our own twist on things. So that being said, we're going to be hosting two contests.

Contest #1: Design a Client Background!

For all you graphical artists out there, here's your shot! We need a Christmas/Winter themed background. The winner of this contest will receive credit in the credits section of the event, as well as an NPC character based off them in the event. This player will also receive the "Community Member" badge on the forums.

Contest #2: Design the Christmas Event!

Got a wonderful story that you want to see brought to life? Here's your shot! We need a Christmas themed event, with Christmas themed NPCs! However, there are some restrictions:

1. We cannot add NPCs into the game. What's there is there.
2. We would prefer there be no actual combat involved - that way skillers can participate.
3. No coarse language.
4. Nothing impossible, like KBD blowing up sections of the map.

The winner of this contest will receive a NPC clone included in the event, as well as credits in the credit section at the end of the event. This member will also recieve the "Community Member" badge on the forums, as well as an NPC dedicated to them after the event is concluded.

Help us, Help you and suggest your event today!

I'm almost done with my own event story. I tried to fit a little bit of references and jokes to it.
It won't be good enough for a full event but it'll be fun to read :p

A little more creativity would go a long way instead of finding a past RS banner with HD on it (irrelevant to 06) and adding our logo on it. Make your own and try to make it unique to the internet! :D

I look forward to seeing what you come up with. :)

Hint: Look for a CC version of Photoshop as thats the most recent version. :D I myself use a portable version of Photoshop CC so I can take it anywhere on my USB.

Please note; on the design an event portion of the contest, it would be wise to PM me your events, that way no one else can get spoilers :D

It would be nice to see elements of the community be incorporated into the Christmas Event this year, especially people that have been around for a long time. I liked how the last event was centered around previous staff you guys had.

Santa: Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas!
Edub: Hey Santa, um...
          I've been a bad person.
Santa: I doubt that edub.
           You're about the nicest person!
Edub: It's just that I've done some bad things...
Santa: Very well then. I guess you'll just be
           getting coal! ha.
Edub: aw crap!
*that's exactly what I need for smithing... (;*

Have you guys decided on what the reward for the Event will be? Could we have a poll on it like last time?

We're going to leave that up to the creator of the event, however we would prefer it be an untradable item.

This contest will end on the 19th. We would like to have the event up on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24th). It will last about a week and a half to two weeks, that way people who are traveling for the holidays have an opportunity to complete it.

Is the ETA for this event still on Wednesday the 24th?
