Title: The Internet Countdown ad
Post by: Gornu on February 13, 2015, 01:36:45 pm
While it is a good reminder to vote with the countdown displayed as an ad here in Rune Rebels, my graphics card does overheat with it displayed on any page in the forums.  The only way I have found to disable it is adding a filter to my ad blocking software, so if I leave my browser open in RR previously any time I may have to check the forums for player emergencies my card is hassled and heats up.  There is such a thing where upper temps would cause a low end graphics card to fail.

So while it is a nice touch, players using the forums could potentially overheat their cards.  Maybe it wasn't a good idea to put the banner on every aspect of the forums.

If you use Mozilla Firefox you can download ad block plus and use it to block certain advertisements, you can block that whole frame so it doesn't show up.

And that's what I did, stated in my original post.

Ah I see now I guess you didn't mention what specially you used to block it but at least its block-able. After about 2 or 3 days of seeing that annoying thing I finally decided to block it as well. I guess this serves as an FYI for everyone else.

Normally I wouldn't add more content to the site, but this is for a very important cause. If these changes don't get made, future projects like RuneRebels and WorldScape wouldn't be able to exist!

That being said, it will be removed after the countdown ends. :)
