Rants / Re: Backseat Moderating
« on: February 22, 2013, 09:26:20 pm »
banned for what?

I was parodying backseat moderating. However, yes, I do agree that extensive backseat moderating should be looked into, seeing as it belittles the existing ability of current mods and can cause hostility among posters (as seen here).

oh sorry for misunderstand you bbycakes <3

No reason to get upset about it, they just want to help  out the staff because the staff have to repeat themselves 20 times a day. If i were staff, i would want someone helping out with the repetitiveness of telling players that "a thread already exists" or "Don't make topics such as these".

i see your point, but seeing the specific nooblet drone on about it 24/7 can be pretty annoying, can't it?
I guess it could, but Riipin was only trying to help :)

I thought so to at first because I never saw the other thread but then I started browsing the forums a little afterwards and I was him dictating where threads went and how this thread is "spam" or "not in the right section"

Most moderators I've seen don't leave such petty responses (unless they're new)
As the staff aren't on 24/7, I feel its right for me, or any other member at that point to let new members about our rules here and to help keep the forums as spam free as possible. Spam is spam. Even if you don't know its spam. I let you know it was spam and reported the thread. I didn't yell at you for it either. I simply just recommended what to do before you post something that has been posted 3+ times before.

New members can learn the rules by reading the "rules" thread. Everything else that falls between the cracks can wait until a staff member is online - which, since the staff on this server are quite active, is usually within a few hours max.

The forum wont implode if a spam post is left unwarned for 20 minutes - just let the mods do their job.
Unfortunately for us, most new members can't be assed to read forum rules. So I don't understand how that argument is valid.

Well, there will be a lot of things that you'll have trouble understanding - and there's not much I can do about that now, is there?

Suggestions, Compliments, And Questions / Re: World Select Interface
« on: February 22, 2013, 09:05:05 pm »
The GUI you created really isn't worth it. Simply world 1 or world 2 buttons that set the ip would work IMO.

Isn't worth it in terms of what? It would take less than 5 minutes to implement.

Well, you see, according to Rule 318, Section C, Subsection XII - anyone can backseat moderate so long as it doesn't interfere with the passenger-seat moderators.

Also banned.

Do we have to turn this thread into a religious debate? I liked where it was going - can we stick to that path?

I see nothing religious about it.  I don't do mainstain religions. ;)  He made a statement that he doesn't think it has anything to do with worshiping Satan, I say it has everything to do with it.  And that he is treading on dangerous ground.

Right, but Satan is a religious figure - is he not? So arguing specifics would be getting into a religious debate. Anyways, I can't stop you from discussing things... I just wish this thread didn't get derailed since I find it mildly interesting.

Satan 666 -

I read a lot about satanism, and no its not about worshipping the devil.

It's all about sharing your wisdom with people whom deserve it.
And how to make things happen the way you want them too.

You may be naive, because a Christian would never use his name as their name.  You may think you aren't worshiping Satan, but he appreciates that you carry his name and advertise for him.  And what you have read is a deception, and that is Satan's middle name...

And Satanism is the path to becoming a Luciferian.  He will offer you knowledge and everything to do with worldly goods, but you must sell your soul to obtain them.

Remember, he offered Jesus the world and everything in it, if Jesus would bow down to him.  Jesus told him to stuff it.

Do we have to turn this thread into a religious debate? I liked where it was going - can we stick to that path?

General Media & Graphical Design / Re: Rate My Newest!

I think it's good - the background and the render go very nicely together.

Some constructive criticism: The lens flare is a little too strong, it draws attention away from the text, and was my biggest issue with this.

Overall great effort, keep it up!

The name I chose for putting myself out there has a funny story to it.  Originally, I thought up "Garnu Thorn" as a D&D name, and started using it as a nickname.  Years later, it hit me, when I came up with that name, I just didn't pick some consonants, vowels and the syllables, I reached in to my being and pulled it out.  So yeah, Garnu Thorn is a short name for my spirit's name after all these years of coming up with it.

At what point in this adventure did you pass the blunt over?

Forum Games / Re: One word Story
« on: February 21, 2013, 03:16:07 pm »
The story so far (I tried my best to make full sentences out of it, so I took a few liberties):

Quote
She smelt rune while she ate cabbage with one smelly turnip. Then, the guard attacked the noob, and then Jesus suddenly was going to go kill the guard at Varrock because he wanted a cupcake party with Santa Claus. Now, princess and her car jump roped for the Dagger of Space Balls [which] began interfering with my authentic pony - and cat slapped dog with something that hard like ["my pen15"] and said "I smacked the dog with tahnycakes taco and that and then muffins,". While he thought the girl was horny so they sucked a lot of grapes that were homosexual, so gaystrings killed some goblins with - abused turnips smell BEASTIALITY in SHIT flavored

We need to get this published.

Continuing the thread:

flavored

Thanks for that, it should come in handy.

Btw: editing your posts is a useful way to add information that was missing the first time around, without unnecessarily double posting. :)

Buying / Re: Buying Featers
« on: February 21, 2013, 02:06:05 pm »
LOL!
What? They're 1 gp in the shop. No need to go all hog and buy 50k feathers. I only need 1 or 2k feathers.

I think he sees it as an unattractive offer due to the fact that they're worth more because of limited shop stock, and because of the amount of time it would take to mindlessly buy 2k feathers from shops.

Fixed bugs / "you've discovered a serious bug in the game code"
« on: February 21, 2013, 01:22:32 pm »
This happened while I was crafting Leather Bodies. I typed out a whole description of the order of events leading up to the bug, but the forums decided my attachment was too big and redirected me to a random thread without saving any of my post - so if you need any more information, let me know.

See screenshot below.
