Title: Onar, i found something
Post by: Spiderjunkie on September 14, 2014, 04:34:19 pm
I think i found all the code for cook's assistant. :D

Except the name in the quests tab, the writer said he couldn't find the IDs.

Unfortunately we can't add stuff from other sources since ryan his system is based on plugins and as far as I know no other rsps has this :p

They're different sources, same with using PI code in a Delta source, it won't work :p

Onur doesn't have access to the majority of the game code. Ryan is the person with the most access currently, he is supposed to be putting out more plugins that allow others like Onur and Kevin to be able to do more to develop runerebels.

Yeah, no clue what you're talking about.

It is not compatible with RuneRebels. For a quest to be added to RuneRebels, it must be made by the quest editor, and not code like that.

Well look at it this way:
Runerebels = Watermelon
PI (Project insanity) = Apple
Delta = Banana

They're all 3 fruits, but when you plant a watermelon seed, you dont get bananas, you get watermelons :c
Although they're all fruits, they can't have intercourse to get babies, same with privateserver sources :3

or,

RuneRebels = Blood Type O
PI (W.EitIS) = Blood Type A
Delta = Blood Type B

You cannot add blood type A (other code) to a patient (RuneRebels) that has blood type O.

CUZ WITH THE API WE CAN.

You know, since the RSPS community has a plethora of tutorials and code snippets doing this for a lot of features would probably prove effective.

I did, actually, think that it was just coding. And since it was all done, i thought we could just plop it into place. :)

Ryans source is not coded the same as every other private server. Most servers in their source have .class files to edit the code, but ryans is actually .agf (AllGoFree) a custom kind of file made by him. The code will NOT at all no bueno work on his files. This is because it's coded COMPLETELY different. so different in fact that it takes a special program which i believe is also made by ryan to even launch the damn file.

So? Changing a file extension doesn't mean much. You don't have to tutor me on how programming works. It can still be Java, and Java is easy and all-powerful. Don't be so naive to think that NO RSPS tutorial could help aid someone developing it. At the end of the day, you're coding an RSPS.. it's all the same protocol.

http://rsps.wikia.com/wiki/317_Protocol

Any intermediate programmer who's determined enough can use that one webpage to create an RSPS from scratch. It isn't magic or creating his own programming language, Ryan's just been one of the few who's been willing to pull it off.

I wasn't even tutoring anybody, I was explaining why copy/pasting code doesn't work. Also, just so you guys know, Onur doesn't exactly code anything. He simply uses the "UI" if you can call it that, to add and plug Npc's, shops (occasionally),  and drops. Anything else he basically can't do. Yes ryan did have a quest editor going, but that thing hasn't been updated in god knows how many months and is collecting dust, and most of the time couldn't do what most quests required in it.

Well copying and pasting isn't what I meant or said. I was talking about following something like a mopar tutorial and making the modifications to fit Ryan's framework. Which is going to be extremely similar to the framework of say, a Project Insanity server.

Yeah, no clue what you're talking about.

Not sure why no-one thought of a decent example, I mean come on, blood type A and blood type B.. LOL

Think of RuneRebels as a BluRay player.

Essentially to attempt this would be trying to play a video cassette tape with the said BluRay player. :)

Yeah... it was completed a long time ago. No idea why it isn't in the server though :/ I would say pretty much all the F2P skills are done besides the fact that they all need one thing added to the editor for that each quest to be completed.

Yay for technical discussion!

Austin is correct thought, the server base that we use was entirely written from scratch by myself. The tutorial that was posted is for server based off the PI base, which we do not use.

If you want a more technical explanation, our server is based around plugins that run within the game engine that I wrote. For quests, there is a Quests plugin that reads in .RRQ (RuneRebels Quest) files, which are a custom binary format I created that contain quest steps along with dialogue for a quest. The plugin parses these files into actual object code for the server to use. :)

You guys will actually be able to get your hands on these tools soon and screw around with them. 8)
